Cellulose has the distinction of being
the only wood based building material that is treated for fire retardancy, which
adds an increase of fire resistance performance to a wall cavity from 22% to 55%. Also, during the manufacturing process, cellulose is tested and
treated according to ASTM standards for fungi protection while providing a
higher sound transmission classification than fiberglass. Owners of
cellulose insulated homes often report up to a 30% decrease in heating and
cooling bills lower than with other insulating products. |
